Week 84

Feb 3-9, 2019—33 days till we are home

Again we attended church with the Katutura Branch.  This Branch has all of the Windhoek YSA attending in our Branch.  We were asked by the YSA after Church if we would come speak at a fireside later in the month.  The topic is:  How we met, dating, courtship and then marriage.  When I asked how long she wanted us to talk, she said an hour or two.  Good thing we have been married forever, how to condense that into an hour or two?  We are looking forward to it.  J

One of the things that happened this week:  Elder Owens was going to be short of his blood pressure medication and needed some additional pills.  We were at the Grove Mall and he decided to go to the pharmacy and ask for a referral to a Dr.  Long story short, he was able to buy 30 days’ worth of pills.  Take a look at who the Dr. is, “Self-Medicated”.  We are grateful that he didn’t have to spend the $$ for a Dr. visit, as we will be having physicals when we get home.

At our District Meeting, we discussed 2 Nephi 2 in depth.  Taking 2 verses at a time and discussing them.  What a great way to study, as we had 8 different insights to each set of verses.  Last week I asked who needed cleaning supplies.  We bought them during the week.  While no one asked for fly swatters, I needed one, and they came in packs of 4, so they each got one as well.  This in an incredible group of young men.  Elders Owens, Mbir, Moremong, Curtis, P. Smith, Sanders and Coka.  There will be 4 of us going home from our Zone this next transfer. That is a lot from a Zone of 12.  But we are all ready to be heading home.

For two weeks now we have picked up the Windhoek Elders and driven them to the District Meeting.  On the way we pass a Harley Davidson Dealership.  After about 5-6 times passing the store, Elder Owens just had to stop and check it out.  The store didn’t carry as many things as the Harley stores back home, but a very nice store none the less.  While our riding days are over for the most part, once a Harley rider, ALWAYS a Harley rider.

We received a call from the Zone Leaders.  We have been out of supplies for a very long time, being so far from the mission office.  We knew that Sister Chadambuka was going to be mailing supplies over here.  Since the ZL share a car, and they didn’t have the car, the called us and asked us to take them to DHL, the delivery company over here.  None of us knew where it was, after several calls, and U turns, we found it.  Namibia has been out of the Restoration Pamphlet for quite a while, and man, were the Elders happy to see a lot of them in the box.

While we did have a GREAT Friday, the best part was talking to Jeff and Shirley that evening.  She had surgery last week, and it was good to see her feeling a little better this week.

Well my friends, just know that we love you all and appreciate your prayers of support.  We feel them, they are very tangible.

Hope you have a great week,

Elder and Sister Owens
